#209: Not the crazy part

This morning I did something totally crazy.

I met a friend for breakfast.  Not the crazy part.  We met to catch up and “do” accountability.  Not the crazy part.  It was 7AM, before work.  Not the crazy part.

I got a club sandwich.  The crazy part.

It was totally premeditated.  I told myself, as I was driving there: “Now, you know what diner breakfast does to your system.   It does bad things.  Bad bad things.”

So I stuck my nose up at everything that is good and decent, and ordered a club sandwich for breakfast.  It was the single best decision I have ever made in my life.

Well, after accepting Christ I guess.  And marrying my wife.  And choosing Jif.  I guess.

So, yeah, it was the fourth best decision I have ever made in my life.  It was crispety.  It was crunchety.  It was baconety.  It wasn’t peanutbuttery, but there’s always next time.  And the best part?  It didn’t make me run for the … border.

Sometimes, we need to switch it up a bit.   Routine can give you the runs.

Pray for someone you don’t know.   Read your Bible on your lunch break.  Actually give the dude a dollar instead of saying no.  Flip the roll around.  Whatever.  Just don’t let the routine overshadow the reason

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever had for breakfast?

  2. Dude – you got your funny back – that made me laugh!

Even with the laughter – a great point. I used to work 3rd shift so I used to have all kinds of weird foods at weird times. I would be eating beef and bean burritos at 8 AM (talk about your running for the …border!)and Pancakes at 10 pm.

    Thanks for sharing Mo.

I ate leftover Bangkok chicken (spicy) with fried rice the other morning for breakfast. I really was craving it and didn’t want to wait for lunch. Not necessarily crazy, but not normal for me at least, either.

Good word about changing it up.

  4. Dude, this is a great post. I really, really enjoyed it.

I’m not much of a breakfast person to begin with… crazy for me is a bowl of Grape Nuts. Ha!

  5. I eat birthday cake often for breakfast.

    Someone got funny back.

  6. I once ate my daughter’s leftover macaroni and cheese for breakfast.

When I went to Colombia on a missions trip they woke us up at 4 A.M. to drive down to a town to preach and the house where we were staying served us soup for breakfast. Very bizarre.

  8. I once ate a leftover Krsytal hamburger for breakfast. And paid for it the rest of the day. Blech.

I made an omelet with maple syrup mixed into the eggs, mushrooms, jalapeños and roast beef, and pepper jack cheese. Chilli cheese hashbrowns were a close second…

  10. A deep-fried club sandwich with bacon-grease mayo.

Not really… I’ve eat pizza many times for breakfast including a breakfast pizza with scrambled eggs and bacon. It was deep-dish.

BTW, I likes the mobile theme.

  11. I like breakfast for dinner.
Weirdest thing I ever ate for breakfast? pot roast. I made it the night before and it was so good, I wanted it as soon as I woke up.

I like changing up the routine. In fact, getting a routine would be a change of routine for me.

  12. I’m with Kristin! I love breakfast for dinner!
The weirdest breakfast was in the Philippines. The bacon was fresh (and a little hairy?) and there was a fish with the eyes still in, oh and coconuts.

  13. Well it wasn’t what I ate for breakfast as much as it was how much I ate that was crazy. If you read my first post about my trip to Brazil…you know the result.
